Objectives
The main objectives of the I.S.L.E network are the following:
- To identify and make concrete a concept that is often rightly regarded as too global and ineffective even though, since 2002, in Johannesburg, the concept of sustainable development opened a debate across the world by seeking solutions to vital problems which concern primarily life sciences.
- To recognize that significant progress needs to be made regarding the substantive question that is to say to admit that current conditions for sustainable development do not exist and there is a requirement for new practices, tools and dialogues in response.
So, the education system and notably higher education, wishes to seize the opportunity and feels legitimate in doing do, with the belief they can, through education and training, gradually improve these approaches and attitudes or at least try to make some sort of change by using what already exists and by inventing new solutions.
