I.S.L.E.Workplan
The workplan of the I.S.L.E. project has been structured into eight (8) Work-Packages (WPs). These facilitate the proper organisation and implementation of the project. The WPs are the following:
WP1: PROJECT MANAGEMENT
AgroSup Dijon would be the coordinator of the project and would employ one person for the administrative and financial management of the project:
- Management and monitoring of the project including the terms of Governance;
- Validation of the definition and distribution of roles and activities;
- Administration, setting up of and coordination of meetings in collaboration with the host countries;
- Financial management;
- Reporting.
Along with the steering committees, tasks include:
- Establishing the organizational set-up of the consortium (chart, validation of the work calendar, communication;
- Validating the work package leaders, task forces and Governance;
- Signing of the partner agreements;
- Writing and submitting the mid term progress and final reports;
- Managing and controlling the budget;
- Setting up of a Quality plan.
The work package would include the Kick-off meeting to be held in France in November 2010.
WP2: STATE OF THE ART: INFORMATION COLLECTION CONCERNING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN LIFE SCIENCES IN EUROPE.
This work package aims to determine what already exists in the 31 LLP partner countries and the “Third countries” in socio-political terms in the field of sustainable development at National level by sectors: Higher Education political bodies, Enterprises, NGOs etc.
The first results should be available by May 2011 but the information is to be updated regularly on the ISLE website until the end of the project.
Then, at a regional/local level, a questionnaire, using a survey software such as “Sphinx”: http://www.sphinxsurvey.com/en/home/home_sphinx.php will be created and submitted to Professors, Students, Staff and main partners in each of the consortium institutions in order to assess the state of the art towards sustainable development in their establishments especially in terms of teaching. The questionnaire would be short, concise, and in English.
Teachers, student and staff survey results will be published on the ISLE website and updated regularly throughout the project.
The work package would include a State of the art follow-up meeting to be held in Italy in February 2011.
WP3: IDENTIFYING SUSTAINABLE AND USER-FRIENDLY GOOD PRACTICES.
This work package is closely linked with work package 2 as it will deal with identifying applicable good practices already in place that could be transferred and duplicated.
This work package would result in the production of a “Good practice compendium”.
This work package would include a first summer school to be held in Malta in June 2011.
WP4: PROFESSIONALISATION
Decision-makers, non-members of the consortium (For example, Company Directors, Politicians, Institutional decision-makers, Stakeholders, Professors from others HEIs etc…) would be asked to participate in this work package in order to introduce a cross-fertilization of ideas.
Their tasks would include:
- Benchmarking outside of the consortium;
- Putting into place the good practices;
- Reinforcing the link between education and society;
- Evaluation of public policies;
- Defining the needs of civil society by setting up a new professions survey
The work package would include a Professionalisation fair to be held in November 2011 at Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal who will also be the leader for this work package.
WP5: EXPLOITATION
In this work package, the data collected and the tools set up in WP 3 and 4 would be offered at the end outside of the consortium, to other HEI’s during the Exploitation seminar in the UK in .
- Utilisation of results already obtained;
- Analysis of professions survey;
- Adjustment of good practices;
- Creation of a diagnostic grid for other HEI's, non-consortium members (colleges, schools) to evaluate teaching programmes;
- Presentation and exchange of curricula;
- Guidelines for the teaching of sustainable development;
- Development and award of a “label” of quality.
This work package would include an Exploitation seminar to be held in the UK in April 2012.
WP6: INNOVATION PRACTICES
This work package will work on the basis of the different diagnostics collected in WP5. This work package would propose innovation on contents and pedagogical methods for sustainable development in the teaching of life sciences by the set up and diffusion of a questionnaire to partner members and HEI’s non members of the consortium.
The work package would include a Innovation practices workshop to be held in February 2013 at the University of Maribor, in Slovenia who will also be the leader for this work package.
This work package would result in the production of an “Innovation practices compendium”.
WP7: QUALITY CONTROL & ASSURANCE
This work package includes activities for the general monitoring and evaluation of the project. In particular, it will define qualitative and quantitative means to assess and monitor the quality of the consortium, the quality of the communication activities and the deliverables of the project.
The WP will also create the tools for the evaluation activities of the partners.
Quality control activities will be focused on the deliverables themselves and quality assurance activities will be focused on the processes used to create the deliverables.
The Consortium will aim to set up its quality workpackage using various models including the “PERT” technique and the Deming wheel “Plan, Do Study Act”.
All the members of the Network will be asked to follow the quality evaluation guidelines provided.
WP8: DISSEMINATION
The ISLE project has a high dissemination potential as Higher Education Institutions in Europe and outside Europe are investing more and more in the field of sustainable development. This makes the final results of the project of common interest for the Global Higher Education Community.
For this reason the project will develop from the very start, a dissemination strategy aimed at reaching significant targets groups.
Even though all partners will plan and carry out dissemination activities during the project life time, the special role of the Dissemination work package is to address the partners with the dissemination strategy, to create a Project website, to publish and promote external publications and promotional material (Newsletters, flyers, brochures) and to propose a post-project dissemination strategy.
The Network will therefore disseminate information on the projects methodology and objectives, as well as the results outcomes and products developed during the work packages and the linked events notably the Good practices and Innovation practices compendia.
The Target groups of the dissemination are:
- HEI’s not directly involved in the project itself who could benefit from the outcome of the project;
- University Administrators who are connected to the network;
- Civil society;
- The students of the partners’ universities and more generally the European and non European students;
- Policy makers at national and international level;
- The LLP Agencies to create a multiplier effect;
- The Lisbon and Bologna Promoter Networks.
